- Get just the right amount of sleep. Aim to get seven to eight hours of sleep. Too much or too little can interfere with hormones.
- Sleep affects ovulation. Women need to get enough sleep to regulate hormones. For those not getting enough sleep and producing enough of the leptin hormone, the monthly cycle can be affected, making it harder to conceive.
- Sleep also affects male fertility. Testosterone is released while men sleep, so both partners should aim for a good night’s rest.

- Skip the alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes. Women will have to ditch smoking and drinking once baby is on board anyway, so why not start now to see if your sleep habits improve?
- Turn off electronics. Phones, computers, and other electronics emit blue light which can suppress melatonin, in turn affecting your sleep cycle.
