With Thanksgiving safely in the rear view, we look forward to the rest of the holiday season. We’re here to help you make it the best yet. Cary L. Dicken, MD of Sher Fertility Institute New York shares the fertility do’s and don’ts of the holiday season to keep you sane and on-track with your fertility treatments.
DO: Treat yourself. Usually this time of the year is all about focusing on others. Take a day, or a week, to focus on yourself. From writing yourself a letter to going on a weekend getaway to the countryside, take this time to show yourself some L-O-V-E.
DON’T: Go at it alone. Feeling isolated and lonely this time of year is normal. Take that and mix it with fertility medication and you can really put yourself in a hole. Either reach out to a friend, family member or significant other, or delve into the online world of blogging… Let someone be the hand to pull you out of the darkness.
DO: Go crazy in the kitchen. The Bump has some great recipes to help boost your fertility and be a welcome distraction. Check it out HERE .
DON’T: Forget to bring your medication. Traveling this holiday season? Don’t forget to bring your medication along! We have a very helpful guide on how to travel with IVF meds. Read more HERE.
DO: Be thankful all season long. Losing perspective is easy, we all do it. Be thankful for your loved ones, for your overall health, and even for the opportunity to be here now reading this blog. For more ways to be mindful and give thanks, click HERE .
DON’T: Be a scrooge. This is a joyful season for many, remember everyone is fighting their own battles.
